De-Nisting is a list of common system files compiled by the National Institute for Standards and Technology. The purpose of De-Nisting is to remove the “junk” files from the ESI collection, non-user generated files that are non-relevant.
Deduplication is applied at a global level or by custodian. It is the process of culling copies of the exact same file across various collections of ESI. Information have their own ID and there are ways to easily filter these out during the ingestion process, reducing the amount of ESI that is being processed and billed to clients.
